Meet Tommy!
We bought Tommy in October 2007. He is a 2001 1.9TD 800 Special and has only clocked up about 50k miles to date. When we bought him, he was completely standard and by the looks of it had been used as a decorators van.

We set to work lowering him using Weitec rear springs and Bilstein B6 shocks all round.
Tommy has been fitted with a spoiler and a pair of crew van windows, wind deflectors, clear indicators and smoked rear lenses.
We also fitted the camping interior and bed. His bed is made from a metal frame which is made from 1 inch steel box section which was designed and welded together by us. The camping interior was built from scratch using marine ply. We have fitted a 3-way fridge to keep the beers cold, although we have not fitted gas due to not wanting to cut holes in the body work for vents, so the fridge works on either 12v or 240v.

Recent additions include the genuine VW Transporter alloy wheels, a new set of tires, and a split charge system to take care of charging the twin 110Ah leisure batteries.
As Tommy is a 1.9TD, the diesel injection system allows us to use veg oil as fuel. We only use new veg oil, not reclaimed, this currently costs us about 30p a litre less than diesel but does not affect the performance or MPG in any way... it only makes the exhaust gases smell like cornish pasties!

We’d like to thank the following for their help:
Simon Baxter at Brickwerks for supplying the lowering kit, lights and help in working out how to put it all together and for providing the Brickyard forum which has been an valuable resource.
Rainbow Conversions for supplying all the materials
to build the interior.
